Michael R. Handy, CPA, MBA, Registered Investment Advisor

Michael began practicing as a CPA in the Los Angeles office of a national CPA firm in 1972 and attended USC in the evenings, earning his MBA (Taxation) in 1976.  He transferred to the Portland office from LA in 1976.  He graduated from Nevada (BS, Accounting, 1969) and was a US Army Captain from 1969 to 1972 serving in Germany, Panama and Viet Nam. 
He has been the managing partner of local and regional CPA firms and is currently the senior partner and investment advisor in the family practice.  He has been active in many civic and charitable organizations.  His clients include businesses, professionals, investors and retired clients. 
He enjoys time with his family including four grandchildren, is an avid golfer, occasional fisherman and continues the dream of one day selling his novels and screenplays.

Nate joined the practice in 2011 as a tax partner after spending his prior eight years in the Portland tax department of a large regional CPA firm.  He graduated from the University of Idaho (BS, Business and Accounting) in 2003. 

His specialty is tax planning and wealth management planning. Nate is responsible for overseeing all professional tax and financial planning services.  Tax services are provided under our sister company Handy & Reagan, LLC.  Nate serves on the Board of Directors as Treasurer for a local non-profit organization, the Friends of Tryon Creek. 

He enjoys golf, skiing, fishing and all outdoor activities with family and friends, in particular his wife Heather, his sons Henry, Owen and Luke, and the family dog Gus.
